Corrector

A type of CFTR modulator medicine that helps correct the shape of faulty CFTR doorway proteins.

Some CFTR gene mutations tell cells to make CFTR doorway protein with the wrong shape. Correctors help the CFTR doorway take the correct shape. This stops the CFTR doorways from being recycled by the cell, and they can move to the cell surface. They may need a potentiator to work properly there.

Examples of correctors are lumacaftor and tezacaftor. These correctors can only correct some faulty shapes.
