Clinical trial
A project to study if a new treatment or a different treatment routine is safe and improves the target health problem.
Companies, scientists, healthcare professionals and patients work together to design clinical trials for new treatments. Depending on the trial design, participants can take the new treatment, an existing treatment or no treatment. Treatment can last days, weeks, months or years. It depends on the treatment being studied. Researchers measure participants’ health throughout the trial. The results help show if the new treatment is safe and if it improves the health problem.
