CFTR modulator
CFTR modulators are medicines that treat underlying faults with the CFTR doorway protein.
CFTR gene mutations cause specific faults with CFTR doorway proteins. Some of these can be repaired with CFTR modulators.
Some people with CF can take a combination of one, two or three CFTR modulator medicines. This depends on which CFTR gene mutations they have. CFTR modulators do not affect genes themselves.
Examples of modulators that people with CF can take include correctors and potentiators.
